Has anybody seen the Irish TV Movies Showbands?
They were shown here recently in Australia and I thoroughly enjoyed both of them!

I was never involved with the showband scene as such however at 18 I was lucky enough to land a job with the resident group Hustle in the "Hitching Post" Leixlip, Basically it was the "Royal Blues" showband. We had "Band Night" on Fridays, Cabaret Thurs,Saturday, and Sunday Sing A-Long. Most of the showbands played the band night, I got to know a lot of the "Heads" Great guys and Fine musicians for the most part. My wife Bernie, was singer with Danny Doyle and Music Box, Before that the Tartans, Her Picture as a wee young thing is on Irish Showbands.net. The one thing I liked about the Showband Musicians they never Bulls*!ted, Didn't have to I guess. Larry ;D

Yeah it was a well made drama, Kerry Katona (ex atomic kitten) played the female lead, it gave a good insight into what the irish showband scene was like.

I played lead guitar (badly) with the Kenny Ryder showband in the 80. Kenny was one of the main singers in Tweed with his brother Brendan.

She did mime. She admitted many times that she simply can't sing.
