Hello forum members, just wanted to send congrats to the latest
American Idol winner Jordin Sparks. She has a very good voice
and did a fair job in my opinion. Although I really thought Melinda
should have won.
I also thought Blake was very good also.
Anyway, just my thoughts on the lastest singing competition.
Peace out!

I agree totally. Melinda was my choice but Jordin was equally good too. Fantastic talent this time over on American Idol. When do you think the disks will be out ?

While Melinda was arguably the best singer in the competition, she was NOT the most marketable. Blake and Jordin got the votes because the kiddies and boppers loved them, which just shows that their target audience is already there and waiting for them to release a CD.
Melinda seemed to me to be a Motown diva - every time I heard her sing I thought she should be singing the theme song from the next James Bond movie! She was very good, just didn't have the mass market appeal.
Blake was actually lucky to come out #2 as it will allow him to be a lot more creative in whatever he decides to do. #1 has to follow pretty strict guidelines regarding their production to make sure they earn their money and fame.
Everything seems to shake out in the end.

We have not seen the new season of American Idol here in Oz, but at least you guys always pick people who can actually sing to be part of the show. The last 3 Australian Idols were awful and we seem to pick people out of sympathy rather than talent. You know, they tell a sad story about their life, it's in every magazine and then they win a singing contest despite the fact that they cannot sing. The proof is in the fact they do not sell any cd's and get dumped by the record company almost immediately after winning. Meanwhile, anyone with real ability is overlooked because it doesn't make good t.v.

Although this thread is about the New American Idol, here in the States a new twist has started in the band booking scene.....American Idol copy acts....that's right! A website called "Gigmasters" is currently booking American Idol copy acts. Those acts along with "tribute" acts are snatching up a lot of good paying gigs. Now you say "American Idol" copy acts....what do they do? Well, I really dont know. It just struck me as funny....acts copying acts who are trying to be acts. My head is spinning...gotta go lies down....LOL

Hey Charlie, Now that's just weird! They're obviously cloning the clones over there... I wonder what's next? Maybe we'll be seeing A Tribute to Bjorn Again? One comment I'd like to add; just as with a photo-copier, as soon as you start making copies of the copies the quality usually degrades rapidly. BTW, I just realised the answer to my "what's next?" question... "Ladies and Gentlemen... for your listening pleasure... please welcome..... the one... the only (cough, cough, cough)... Milli Vanilli Tribute Show!!!" Cheers, Dave
