Is it me ? Has anyone else out there noticed a sudden increase in club punters having a moan about the use of smoke machines since the advent of "no smoking" venues. My band have been playing several clubs year in year out with no problems what-so-ever. They always book us at least a year in advance (not sure if it's the fact we're good, or we're cheap), but the last couple of gigs we've done in these clubs, which have incidently, cut down on smokers, people are begining to moan like hell about our smoke machine. Something that has never happened before. We have been told in the past, that the use of smoke enhances our lighting,(which it does). Is it going to come to the stage where clubs not only ban smoking, but also ban the use of smoke machines. Anyone else have views, be glad to hear them. Regards, Lennon.

I guess it is because all the non smokers are going out more since the smoking ban. Just wondering why smoke machines dont set off the smoke detector fire alarms.

Hi guys
The upside of the smoking ban is of course it's a more comfortable singing environment but the downside is that your lights look rubbishpy. Working in a smoky room use to make any light you used look really effective. As far as smoke machines go a lot ov clubs over here in Oz won't let you use them as some types create a slippery film on the dance floor which renders them a health hazzard
