ooops no lost some other functions so uninstalled it reboot pc reinstalled everything fine but no midi signal back to square one lol anyway when it was working all the timing seemed to all over the place might just stick with sonar and just use sspro for editing midifiles like b4

You have to laugh, eh? OK mate, it sounds like you've arrived at a truce with it... keep fiddling, you'll probably end up sorting it all out sooner or later. I'm still using Cakewalk for most of my midi work but I'll have a play with SS soon. I use a few programs for different things, depends on the job, it always seems to save a lot of messing about just using whatever programs you're most familiar with. Cheers, Dave.

have the same problem mate. after uninstalling and reinstalling,i,ve found it is a driver problem.trouble is when you try to install the driver a box comes up saying dont need to use win xp drivers.only it must be the windows drivers that is causing the problem.any other program will use the usb,or midi in no prob,s whatsoever so it must be the progam is so out of date that the drivers keep getting written over with newer versions.i just use the sound studio to edit my midi files now as it is still the fastest and easiest to use. regards steve
