I installed the USB to Midi driver from the CD that came with my PSR 3000, and though i installed it successfully, it doesnt show up on the Cakewalk 9 Midi Port selection, so I cant get connected to my Cakewalk to do any composing. My PC recognised the hardwarte but it doesnt show up on the Cakewalk. Someone HELP me sooooon, please - I have a project to complete by Saturday . H E L P !!!!!

Hi Shyam, If you can't get the usb interface or PSR to show up on the midi out port selection then you may have to just re-install CW. You can probably just do it over the top of the existing install I think but, if you want to be absolutely sure of renewing all the drivers, uninstall CW before you re-install. You may also have to re-install the usb midi drivers. One other important thing; make sure you only highlight/select the one output source in CW, earlier versions often have trouble if you highlight more than one. Cheers, Dave.

I uninstalled CW 9 and the USB driver, pulled them out of the registry and then re installed them, using the CD for the USB-Midi install, but the CW still doesnt show the USB driver. When I click on the Control Panel, the yAMAHA USB-MIDI driver icon shows up but when I double click on it , it says its not connected, though it IS. The cables are fine I just cant understand why this is so. I guess I'll have to give up the project or just do a straight forward recording to my Creative Recorder with no layering or effects. Wont sound good so I guess its KAPUT !! I'll appreciate any help

Have you checked at Yamaha and Cakewalk web sites for any updates or additional software downloads ?

Hi Shyam, Bearing in mind your other post about your pc misbehaving... you probably need to solve that first and the rest should be solvable too (I'm assuming that the Yammie is connected and turned on and that your usb port is functioning OK ie: you didn't accidentally change the basic usb setup ). To get the usb-driver to show up in CW you need to (1) close CW, (2) connect the usb and turn on the Yammie and make sure it's recognised in Control Panel, and (3) open CW and check the midi out ports, highlight just the Yammie/usb and away you go. If it still doesn't show up as an available driver I'd just re-do the steps of; solve your basic pc problem (as described to Paul)> uninstall both CW and the Yamaha usb driver> re-install the usb driver> reinstall CW. If you can't get it going again after trying all that, meet me in the MM chatroom later today and I'll brainstorm it with you. Cheers, Dave.

Hello..Rocky here.
So far all is good advice. I have two PSR3000s and use with Sonar. I encountered the same problem and will look through my notes and try to see how I solved the problem.
I do remember that it was necessary to follow the steps in the read me file that is on the CD driver. As I remember there was a sequence as to when to connect the USB line from the Keyboard to PC. I also had to go into the control panel on my PC and check the driver list and click on the + box to enable the driver. I also had to delete my previous driver (MP401). Just make sure you do not delete any drivers that are requited for your PC.
If that fails to help, please get back to me and I will figure it out for you.
You will be very happy with the set up and then can use a micro disk (USB) for all of your playback on your board. It works really great.
Regards...Rocky

hi shayam! if you,ve got the 3000 cant you record all your tracks on the keyboard, save as a user file, and then export as a midi file.i do on my s500,and i find it easier than using any program.when you have finished put it into cakewalk to edit the sounds,as they will be in xg.just select the roland vc3 as the output and assign the gm/gs or gm2 sounds, and your midi is converted. steve

Hi guys, I could connect the PSR3K to the PC via the Yamaha USB tio MIDI cable and as Rocky put it, yes there is a sequence to follow .R 3K has to be put on first befor opening the Cakewalk. Thank you guys for all the inputs. Steve , you're right its much easier recording into the USB pen drive and exporting it. I still have some niiglys to sort out, but I know I'm on my way now - thanks to many in our Forum
