I'm thinking of buying a portable player to keep with me for gigs and maybe to use instead of a Minidisc player eventually. I saw a chap working with two i Pod Players recently and it looked like a very neat and easy set up. But now I find there are MP3 players too, Sony, Creative etc, all seem to have the same sort of players. Does anyone have any experience of them, and know of any Pro's & Con's I should consider. Also can all these players be used with an Amplifier? Do you think the sound would vary with different brands? All Help & Advice Appreciated Thanks Jacqui

It lasted for 1 1/2 years before the HD went out. I used it probably 30 times, it sat on the shelf more than anything. It cost $260.00US and they wanted $179.00US to replace the HD. I told the fixers to forget it, wasn't worth it to me. So with that said, the batteries and HD's are the things that go out and they are expensive to replace. I purchased a Marantz rack compact memory recorder/player for like $400.00US and now have the ability to record at Gigs / practice sessions and also play MP3's where ever the unit is, with no movable parts inside to break. You now have my feelings on MP3 players Roger
