Do any of the Midiplayers show the default key of the midi before changes?

Jacqui....
if you download the Jazz sequencer ----- Select the tracks (apart from the drum track), then goto EDIT and select "Transpose" it tells you there what key the midi is in.....
You can then transpose from there.... (In semi tones)

Hi Levi Thanks for the info, tried it on some files and it worked OK
BUT, if I load any Pro Files into Jazz, it only seems to load them on the 01 - Channel, although they play OK, if does not seem to show the separate instruments as with other files, it's the same in Mixer View, it appears to be the same with any Pro files I try.
The other Midi players I have are Anvil & Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. Hope you can help here, Jacqui

they must be in midi 0 format do any of your progs save miidi in 0 and 1 format if they do just load in yer file and save it as midi 1 format. infact if u got bandinabox just go to make standard midifile and theres option to save in different formats

Jacqui....
in Jazz, just go to "Misc" and click "Split Tracks"......
They will open into the individual instruments then...... Just click save as, give the track a name and save. (Never save over the top of your originals)

Hi Jacqui, GNmidi is another great little program that has a "find key" button. I think it's shareware. It'll load any type of midi or kar, find the key, show the chords, display lyrics, track data and info and can do about 50 other things to boot! It gets it right almost everytime except where there's a key-change in the song itself. Besides that it does just about anything else you'd need if you're not actually writing sequences. Cheers, Dave.

Hi Folks
Try MidiNotate free from Hitrax. It will display the whole score, showing key, lyrics etc. All printable.

Not Nessesaryily Jacqui....
When I Sequence, I put in the Instruments so that keyboards or others that don't read midi can be tailored....
As long as the instruments play - that will be fine.... You can put the instrument names in for yourself, if you wish....
Just don't transpose channel 10.... These are the drums....

Power Tracks Pro Audio does all the above also. Any version above 8 will show you a complete chord chart with pretty good accuracy. It tends to miss minor 2 chords in certain progressions. It also has a menu to simplify the chord changes. The program scrolls the chord changes like a Karaoke Player does lyrics.
