For some reason I cannot record audio on Cakewalk 9. I have recorded audio before but now it seems to disappear a split second after recording has finished. The input is fine, I can hear it through my monitors and the data is in the track but as soon I press stop (recording) it suddenly disappears and leaves an empty blue track. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

have you cleaned out your audio cache???
chances ae this is full, or your HD is running low on space.
also defrag your drive, as audio needs to be in continuos sectors.
On another note.
this topic would fall under "PC Problems" which there is a specific section of the forum set up to assist you

Thanks for you quick reply Paul. Found the 'clean audio disc' tab and there was no audio to be deleted. De-fragmented a week ago and I have 30G free space. Any other ideas?

I've done everything you suggested with no luck. I downloaded driver updates about 6 months ago - could this be contributing to the problem? I'm using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card.

Check that you have a valid CW Folder address for the audio. Go to Options> then check on the drop-down menu that the folders assigned to Audio, Project, and Global actually exist on your hard-drive. If not, make a new folder for Wave Data and try that. Let me know, I have other ideas if this doesn't work. Cheers, Dave.

Thanks Dave.......yes these folders do exist. As I mentioned in my original post, I've recorded audio in the past without a problem but I can't now. It's not an urgent matter but would like to work it out.
Cheers.

Right, it's not that then! Is your audio folder called "Wave Data"? It should have that name. Next thing to try; use the wave profiler to check your setup. Options>Audio> button at bottom left near the OK button. Next time you try to record audio go to View>select Console which will bring up the VU meters so you can see if the audio is actually being input to the track (I'm assuming that you've already selected the correct source and Port destinations, if not, let me know and I'll walk you through it). Tell me a time you're usually online and we can talk through it in the chatroom or on msn. One other thing, I'm assuming that you're allowing enough time for the audio to "appear" on the track, it sometimes takes a minute or two to "arrive" on slower pcs. Cheers, Dave.

OK then............Audio file is called Wave Data. Used wave profiler and all is good. I haven't had time to check VU's as it's 5 gig week for us this week but will try Monday and let you know how I go. In relation to slow PC's.........I haven't waited that long for audio to arrive because the data appears visually in the track the instant I press stop and then disappears about one second later. Thanks for all your advice Gibbo and I'll get back to you early next week.
