In a word, Dave.....NO. DXi synths are for use within programs like Cubase, Cakewalk or many other compatible proggies out there.

i use cakewalk music creator3,and it uses any type of plugins sonar, vst, vsti, dxi i use vsc3 as my main output, but also use the dxi vsc32,when using a midi keyboard, and also using forte 1.5 which is also a dxi plugin.all this is so you can get around latency problems.a dxi plugin is a lot better than an ordinary vsc3 the latency is far less.hope this info helps steve(oldsage)

Roland Corp have this VSC-MP1. This is a software. But I just want to know if it's possible for me to use the VSC as player and SC Mk11 as an external sound module? What do you recommend as player? I love using the VSC 3.2. If it's possible, I will buy the new model of VSC. Thanks

If you are using VSC 3.2 as your midi player, the sound is good. But the problem is, if the midi file has some auto stop setting, it doesn't recognize it. So I usually use my reliable MC 50 Mk11.

I have noticed that the Virtual Sound Canvas is a good, not great way of playing midi's without a tone generator as you are able to make song lists and play back. But, you must have a decent sound card in your PC or Laptop. It also does a fairly good job of converting midi's to wav. Here again, you must make sure the controllers in the sequence are set correctly. Then if I want, I can even make MP3's out of them with my EZ CD creator program. pdiroma

The Vsc MP1 software will enable your computer to playback almost all top notch Roland voices, regardless of your soundcard. If your not hearing it, there's something amiss with your set up. It does the same job as a tone generator, software without hard ware.

Thanks pdiroma and themd21. Can I use the the VSC as a player then have my reliable SC-55mk2 as an external hardware using midi interface by Roland corp? Thanks again.
