Hello Everybody,
Is anyone currently using a Yamaha QY700 sequencer to play midi files? I have noticed that the file extension on QY700 proprietary files is .qy7. Can I simply change the extension to .mid and it becomes a standard garden variety type midi file? The problem is that the A drive (floppy) is starting to falter. It wont be long before the spring mechaism that alllows entry and removal of the floppy will fail and I will be stuck. I wanted to convert the QY700 files to .mid so that they can I play them from my laptop and save them to CD for archives. I dont know if you can convert a proprietary file to a standard midi file like what I want to do. But, I've got answers to everything else here at the forum....thought I'd throw this out there for replies....
Thanks!

Isnt anyone using a Yamaha QY700 for live sequence work? Apparently not, well...anyway...I did discover that you can convert .qy7 file extensions to .mid. Simply load Yamaha file and save as SMF. All edits made while files were Yamaha are lost, once file is converted to SMF. But, at least you have a backup in the event that the floppy drive on the QY700 fails. Only catch.......sequences must be converted one at a time. Kinda weird, replying to myself....anyway..that's all I know to do.
