???Hi everyone. HELP please. I run midi files thru a Roland Sound Canvas SC88 Pro which I am just about getting used to. This works fine, and I get (some) reasonable results if and when I have the need to edit midi files, which usually isn't necessary with MM files. My problem is, the one song I really want to do (wouldn't it be good, Nik Kershaw) has been put onto a file containing only two tracks. One of these tracks has most keyboard lines, some guitar lines and a backing /lead vocal line. The latter is the one I want to remove, so I thought I would use the CAL programme on Cakewalk 9. Can anyone tell me in easy to understand language (not very technical !!! ) how this programme runs and works. Many thanx Regards, Lennon.

Select the track you want to split, open CAL and select "split channel to tracks" when it asks for first destination track select the number of the first free track you have and click on ok this will split up the instruments/channels for you and put them on seperate tracks so you can easily edit them.

Another way to remove the "part" would be to select the whole "track" and then select "by filter" only the chanel you want to remove (the"part" must all be on 1 chanel) then delete it.
If you don't get it right you can "undo" and try again!
