Can anyone tell me why tracks I record on Cakewalk 9 record out of time? By that I mean I record a small section in real time then when I play it back it's 1/2 a beat or so out and I then have to drag it into position. Regards Guilty

What are your midi input and output? If you are using a keyboard to record your midi into cakewalk try setting the output to the keyboard i.e the keyboard plays back what you have recorded

I am new to this however I am using a mother keyboard to record into Cakewalk. I have a lead connecting Midi In and Out directly to my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 connection at the back of my computer. I presume that if I set the output to my keyboard I'll then need to connect the keyboards audio output to the audio input of my computer for monitoring.
PS. This 'out of time' recording is intermittent. eg. It never seems to happen when I'm simply putting a 4 count at the start of a file.
Could it be a quantize issue?

I doubt it's a quantize issue, in cakewalk go to "options" - "project" and see if clock source is set to internal.
If there are speakers on your keyboard you should be able to hear the midi

Clock source is set to internal but my keyboard dosen't have speakers on-board. It dosen't have headphone jack either.
I'll keep working on the problem...thanks for your input.

Thats great Guilty. I found one of the great things about this site and forum is that everyone helps out , I had an Audigy 2 card and remembered you had to keep it updated for peace of mind.
