G'day everyone
I'm using Cakewalk 9 and would like to learn more about all the listings in the Event list.
E.G. which event should be or can be deleted and which event should not be touched.
In one list that I have looked at there are GREEN entries and PINK entries and I imagine that the BLACK ones are the notes, But I don't know which ones do what.
I would appreciate any advice at all
Regards Steve

Hi steveb. This question has been asked before..... Take a look here.... midimart.proboards56.com/index.cgi?board=technical&action=display&thread=1127126055A full listing of control changes or event changes are listed. The colors are usually unique to the program, so the colors in Cubase will not be the same as Cakewalk and so on. But the control numbers are the same. All events have a value of 1 - 128 or 0 - 127 midi. Some work with the value of 0 being the lowest, IE. 7 volume and 11 velocity (Expression) no sound and 127 being the loudest. and others work left and right as in 10 PAN. 0 means pan to the left, 127 means pan to the right but 64 means center. Bank selection works differently too. This has to be an exact number like 0 for standard drums or 9 room set or 17 power set etc. Make sure you save the original file and have a mess around with a copy, this way you will still have the original. Until you get used to the changes....

Hi Steve
Looking at the Event List you'll notice a row of icons at the bottom of the tool bar. Their functions are as follows ( here goes)
KIND OF EVENT: ( VALUES PARAMETER:) and colours........ MIDI note, ( Pitch, velocity, duration) Key aftertouch ( Pitch, pressure amount ) Controller change ( Controller number, value ) Patch change ( Patch number or name ) Channel aftertouch ( Pressure amount )[/b][/color] Pitch wheel position ( Wheel position ) RPN Registered Parameter # ( 0-16383 ) NRPN Nonregistered P. # ( 0-16383 ) System Exclusive data ( Sysx bank number ) System Exclusive mess. ( Sysx message up to 255 bytes long ) Text Lyrics Windows Media Control Interface ( MCI command text ) Digital audio wave ( Wave audio data ) Staff view exp. mark (Text of expression mark ) Staff view dyn. mark (Direction and duration ) Staff view chord symbol ( Name of chord )
When editing or viewing your midi in the Event Window, try clicking on the icons to remove them from the window or click them all, then view any data singularly
Clear as mud but I hope it helps.
