Can someone please explain the difference between midi file type 0 and midi file type 1?

Tyep 0 files save all of the channel data to one track. Type 1 files split the channel info to tracks. Many older players can only read one track. If you want to be able to edit a file you need the data split to tracks. Can you imagine trying to edit a file where all of the instruments were on one track alone? Channels and tracks are not the same in MIDI. Cat >^..^<
