I've been given a loan of a Gadget called a Roland 64 Voice Synthesiser Module MULTI-FX SC880, Alongside it is a small machine called RD70 Viscount Professional, about the size of a car stereo, looks like it has a slot for a floppy disc and has controls which would relate to playing music eg stop pause tempo Ect. The chap who loaned it to me said they used it in a band he was in years ago, it cost about £800 then, said it played midi's Anyway can anyone tell me, what I can do with it, as I've not got a clue Any advise appreciated Jacqui

Hi Jacqui
The SC880 is a midi file module. In other words a synth without the keyboard. It's good kit, good Roland sounds. Because the SC880 has no disk drive you need the means of getting your midi file to the SC880, hence the RD70. Midi lead from the RD70 midi out to the SC880 midi in and all the being equal, providing they're set to transmit and receive midi on the same channel, your Roland SC880 should become all dancing and singing, well you know what I mean.
Cheers.

Thanks for that, I'm going to try and set it up and see what I can do with it. Jacqui
