Can anyone tell me how to convert XG files to GS or GM please? I'm used to doing some editing in Cubase. Any help would be appreciated. Also is there any free software that allows the play back of XG files so I can at the very least record them? TIA

Hi drd. Yes the Jazz Sequencer lets you save in GM, GS and XG. Download the sequencer Jazz Midi Sequencer - Load in your midi file, go to "Settings" and click on "Synth Type". From there you can then save in GM, GS or XG. It will ask you to close the program to save the settings. The next time you open it, you will have the XG voices (Instruments) to chose from. You can also load in a GM file and change the voices to XG from here too. Then re-save and providing you have not changed your settings, the file will be saved in XG mode. In the opposite direction, just set your "Synth Type" to GM and everything you play or save from then on will be in GM mode. Hope this helps.
