HELP. I have recently been given a Sony MP3 player, and I'm trying to figure out how to transfer midis from mini disk to the Sony. Not being much of a technophobe, and not wanting to ruin or lose my midi collection, could you please advise the best (and easiest )way for a numpty like me to complete the task. The Sony holds a whopping 13,000 or so tracks (allegedly) so should have enough room for data dump! Any ideas ? Thanx to anyone who can help. Lennon.

Hi lennon. I too have a Sony Mp3 player. And its fantastic, I have about 4,000 tracks on it plus mp3's to listen to. Now to transfer midi files to mp3 player. The mp3 player has a usb or cable to connect to your computer. If you connect this cable or USB your PC will detect the removable device and will show it under My Computer. All you have to do is drag and drop files to it and there you go. As for not losing your valuable midi collection MAKE A BACK UP first. You can then take your midi file wherever you go. Please could you tell me how you got midi files on to a mini disk, I'm intrigued? Don't forget these files are raw midi files and cannot be played with the mp3 player. If you wish to play midi files with the mp3 player - You Can't..... You can however convert midi files to mp3, or wav by software. A good piece of kit is MID Converter from www.midiconverter.com or you could use your trusty windows recorder and record them that way. The best I'd say is the MID Converter..... It's only a few quid (pounds).
