Dear Jacqui,
Sorry I messed things up yesterday when I was trying to do things in a hurry here. I am moving your post to here, the relevant place, I hope you won't mind? If you would like to re-post with your avatar I will delete this post. Up to you.

Hello John
Just been looking at your tutorial, the first problem I am having is trying to follow this but not having the same midi file to work with, I've tried a couple of my files to get the drum track looking the same, but this file must have had a separate percussion channel, is that normal? or is showing that way because of the cakewalk pro version you have.
Would it be possible to have the same file as you are doing the demonstration with to make it easier to check we/I have got the instructions correct.
Also would changing the velocity be the same as if you were changing the volume of an instrument? would you follow the same procedure
Having tried with one of my own files I do not have the option to select "Edit" then "Interpolate" as shown. in my cakewalk
I found an option in Help that's says: To change note Velocities,
Select the data to be affected.
Choose MIDI Effects-Cakewalk FX-Velocity from the Edit menu or from the popup menu to open the Velocity dialog box.
Would that be the same thing as you are doing here, I'd like to post some pictures but I'm not sure how to get them into the post? or what photo program to use? I have something called easy capture would that be an option?

Hi Jacqui,
If you don't have Interpolate then I need to look for another way for you to do this. This is really more for drum velocities than for general music tracks, if I may put it that way? I am also preparing a tutorial using "CakeWalk FX" which I know you have. If you take a look in the "technical questions" section you will see I have explained what I use to do my tutorials.
I will deal with your questions in a little more detail shortly, I am a bit snowed under at the moment. Back soon.
I feel a tutorial on tutorials coming on! Aaaargh!
All the best
