Well, it had to happen sooner or later...But not both at the same time! I have two Roland jw 50 keyboards. One for gigging, one for studio/spare room work.
Because I work outside venues (Canary Isles) both have been subject to dust, drizzle, extreme heat etc and so I have been alternating them whilst I try and do a maintainence job on the sorrowful one.
This week my venue keyboard started to erase any disc matter that was inputted as soon as I used "chain load" facility.
The "inside" one yesterday decided to become non operational as regards the "Load" button. So hence the delemma. I can use the keyboard as just that, and a mini disc player. Any way, to cut this all short I am in need of a replacement JW 50.
Anyone got an idea where there might be one? I've tried Ebay, but nothing going on. They usually sell for about 150 pounds because they were made back in 1992/3.
Most of you out there will know about my severe lack of techno knowledge, possibly by the number of queries I submit, but I would be interested to learn of a more modern keyboard that could do the same job as the JW. I.E. All I need to do is load files from the computer onto floppy then into the workstation, then play around with them (change key, mute certain instruments etc) and finally transfer to Mini disc. The JW 50 was brilliant because of its 16 channel mixer. Because I still use guitar and keyboard I need to taylor the files to my personnel taste.
Maybe there is a good "used" one somewhere, and possibly some of you are saying (like my daughter does) "Crikey are you still on floppys?"
I just feel happy with the way I've been going for the past years. Maybe I need a push forward! (Not too hard).
Thanks again everybody,
Cheers,
Rossi.
PS. I can arrange pick up from anywhere in England.
