. Hi Folks .... Lock up your money and hide your daughters ! ! My best friends are about to buy a new caravan, and are GIVING us their old one = a 1987 ABI Marauder. The diesel Renault Megane 'Scenic' we bought a month ago, already has the towing equipment fitted, and as they had some really insulting offers for their caravan, they said they would rather tow it to the Council Tip than accept what was offered, so I said I would have it rather than that. So ! ! ...... Coming shortly, to a Caravan Park near you (when the weather bucks up!), will be the two of us, plus our dogs. Some pics ... The Dogs !!! Don't say you weren't warned ! !Regards, Tone Deff (John, 'Musicmaker') .

Hi John, we are camping folk, too. We have a 7 berth camper (motor home) which we use with our five young kids for holidays; we are off to Scotland this year (July) and London. The last two years in a row we went to France, north and south It's nice to know we have other camping enthusiasts on the forum

Gosh guys, driving around in a caravan has been my dream for a looooooon looooooooong time andI still dream and hope to travel around the country side with my P.A. Equipment all rigged up and ready to blast. Even though I am in India, I still dream of going from town to town , village to village and though our farmers might not understand my songs, I'm very sure I can put out my "Gandhi Cap" or my shawl and get enough donations for my petrol expenses. Guys, please let me dream on ............do send me pics of your caravans - I would love to drool on them. If I ever come to your part of the world, please keep a small corner for me and my wife and my keyboard.............I promise not to bring any holy cows, sacred monkeys or elephants.!!!!

I have just a 'van'. I got it so I could move more stuff and also have a place to sleep, if need be, and I have needed too. Turns out this van I have doesn't do both well. My older van, that had only 2 seats and a built up area in the back for my bed, was MUCH better for that. The newer one I have may look fancier but is less efficient.
As for camping, I never had it so good. When I was a kid going out on different expiditions with my mom, we didn't even own a tent. Slept on a tarp layed out on the ground, inside a sleeping bag. But then again, we also never went to camp grounds. We were always way out in the middle of nowhere. No water, no toilets, no neighbours. LOL Most times we were rock hounding or caving or even surveying and digging for connections for new passages.
We had a Coleman lantern and a Coleman stove, and several 5 gallon plastic containers for water, which we used exceptionally sparingly. We carried no fresh food or ice at all. Just canned food that we heated right in the can... without opening the can! Takes skill to know the point between where the food's warm and the can's gonna blow up. LOL
And what, Shyam? Not going to bring me any cows, monkeys or elephants? Well darn!! What fun is that? <smile>
