Hi Just wondering what is the norm for you Guys when it comes to your Car Insurance if you use it for gigs, do you have Insurance as using your car for work, does that work out in cost much more, and would that cover the contents including your music equipment, or does that get covered by your own Home Insurance, or a separate Music Equipment Insurance I just wondered what would happen in the event of a claim with PA etc in the car, any ideas, advice or experiences would be helpful

Hi Jacqui,
I have a van for carrying equipment to gigs, in order for my stuff to be covered i had to specify it to my insurers. Equipment is not covered unless specified, and especially if using your car to ferry to gigs.
In the eyes of insurance companies, a car is to ferry passengers only, apart from what can go in the boot. If your P.A. is on the back seat and it gets damaged in a car accident (and even if you are not liable) you are not covered.
If in doubt, don't assume you are covered, make sure it is documented on your insurance papers.
