Hi Folks, i am just after a little advice on the Epiphone Sheraton 2 semi acoustic guitar i have just purchased,it is about a 1996 model in really good nick all over hardly a scratch on it,i got it privately locally.I have checked up on the net for info on it,it actually has a gibson plate just above the nut where the ones on the net show an epiphone ensignia,it is made in korea but according to the reviews the nineties models were pretty good,my question is i am thinking about having the humbucking pickups changed to more recent ones,i would like to finish up with some nice mellow tones as it probably would go for the type of stuff i play, any suggestions ??, the other thing is as to what would be a good gauge of strings & brand to use, having only really played acoustic guitar it is all pretty new to me ,lastly what would be the prefered amp to match up with it as well,i know that everyone has different views on this subject but all imput is welcome,Simmo (left he's run a bit late to be a popstar) ;D

Hi Simmo nice piece of kit ya got there personaly i would leave the p.ups as they are m8 ( Guitar string,s) i use the elixer nanoweb string,s, they are a good quality string and last three time,s as long as the average one,s if your playing mainly rythm i would advise you to get 10.Guage as you will get a nice rich tone from these ... (amplifier) would advise you to go to a local music shop with the guitar try a good few out before you buy find the one you like then go to ebay ,n, get it for half the price.. ;D... Hope this help,s m8 Here,s a clip of the guitar in the right hand,s (wish i could play this Style ) www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Rk0WZH6RYM

Hi Simmo I have been using one for about 10 years now and I adore it. The only type of music I think it doesn't seem to cope with is loud rock music but that is a matter of taste. I use Ernie Ball regulars which are pretty middle of the road. To echo what Tiny says leave the pickups as they are I think there is enough tone variation in them. I play it through a Fender twin 100 watt amp. Hope you enjoy the guitar, let us all know how you settle in with it in a few weeks time. Oliver101
