Hi
I have just joined MidiMart and downloaded a couple of midifiles one of which was Itchycoo Park by the Small Faces. I loaded it into Cubase 4 and it seemed to take an unusually long time, when it was loaded it had 126 tracks ? of which only 5 or 6 were used. Thinking there may be a problem with Cubase I tried some non MM files from the net and they were fine.
I tried another MM file and that also had 126 tracks.

Hi Glen, Yes, this is a problem that has been reported before to me. The sequencing package (Jazz) that has been used has some major faults in it and this is one of them. All the empty tracks can be quite safely (in most cases) just deleted. They contain rubbish. Cubase is fine and a good sequencing program. If you have a problem I can edit it out for you. You will find my public address in my profile. JohnG

Well done for reporting it. I have seen Jazz, nothing to do, I should hasten to add, with JazzCat, have as many as a hundred or so tracks with no music data in all but a few. I deleted it a while back from my PC as a total waste of space. Just my 2d, JohnG.

If you save the files in midi format 0 when you reopen them only the used tracks will show
