Hola Ladies and Germs, and a Happy New Year to all! I'm occasionally asked for quicksteps and foxtrots, and need advice on what songs are best to use, and are available on MIDI file. Also, what kind of BPM are we talking about, as I've had "speed it up, son" on a few occasions. Thanks, people!

Hi there jacko, ballroom tempo's vary according to what type of ballroom dance is being done but to give you a guide,Quickstep tempo is between 176 and 190 BPM, for nomal club work you will be quite safe with 176 to180. Now ,foxtrot tempo depends on what type of foxtrot you are doing, any thing between 98BPM to 134 bpm depending on how you count it..Again for normal club work you will be O.K with anything between 108 and 120. There are different type's of foxtrot but for normal work there are only two you need to do :ie: slow foxtrot at around 108 bpm and normal foxtrot at about 120bpm depending on your dancers. As to what numbers to play if you have not got any at all then contact me and i will send you a list or a:mail me and i will send you some midi's. The exact tempo can also depend on what song you play. Hope this is of help to you . Cheers allegro
