Hey guys,
This recession that has hit the US has really taken its toll on the US economy. Jobs are being lost by the thousands. My job is in jeopardy if the economy doesn't pick up. In short, nobody's job is secure. I have been through a couple of recessions and I have to say, this one we're in now appears to be a lot deeper than those of the more recent past. The financial industry is all but frozen, with loans only being given to those with immaculate credit. As Obama tries to push his economic stimulus package through, I wonder if it will be big enough and soon enough. Will the stimulus package be used in a manner that will help stimultate the economy? Who has oversight of how the money will be spent? So many questions, so little answers. I know they say this too shall pass, but the question remaining is when. All of us, from all walks of life, are being affected by this recession. I wished I had some glimmer of hope that the economy is improving, but as of lately, it doesn't look good. How are things for you guys?

It's bad in the UK too Charlie. My son's job as a CAD technician in the building trade is at risk too. My UK pension has dropped 30 percent in value here against the Euro, so I know pain too at the moment. You have my sincere sympathies. I heard on the news today some huge figure for a single day's loss. Unprecedented. To be honest I don't see what can be done until the banks somehow rid themselves of all this toxic debt. I fear it may take years despite Obama's best efforts.
Doom and gloom, doom and gloom! JohnG.

You should come over here to Ireland if you think you got the recession blues....at least Obama is talking about fixing it....we have Biffo The Bear running things....into the ground mainly!! Have no sorrow for the "Bankers" (the rhyme slang meaning sums them up better)...they messed a lot of it up in the first place. So lets sit back and watch the poor old pensioners and sick people suffer with cutbacks to healthcare while the elected supreme take a pay-cut which amounts to a round of drinks at the government bar!! I had to let three workers go at Christmas due to lost contracts...and i doubt the ship will stay floating much longer at this rate either. What can you do...chin-up and all that!!
