Have any of you heard of this? I hadn't, and although it wouldn't affect me, as I'm in the USA, I thought it might be a good idea to post it here. =========================================
Another piece of proposed legislation that will adversely affect live music in the UK:
It has been brought to attention that the government wish to consider it a legal requirement in the new tax year to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment license must have a noise control device fitted to the venue. This will be the final NAIL for ALL entertainment in the UK as the level at which these devices CUT you off is dreadfully low and damaging.

Hiya Jazzcat, most of the hotels over here in N.Ireland have had these d**n things in operation for some years now and your right they suck, most are of a very simplistic make up and are basically a series of 3 lights. As long as the lights stay green your good to go but as the levels go up a red light comes on, your safe as long as it doesn`t go to 3 reds lights when that happens all your equipment is automatically cut off, almost like 3 strikes and your out lol lol

Hi everyone, the worst thing about sound limiters are that the performer spends all his/her time watching the lights rather than concentrating on putting on a good show. They strangle the soul from the music. The only option is to carry an extension lead and plug it into another socket not connected to the sound limiter. I perform at a few venues that have these devil inspired units fitted and some are better than others. Big Brother at work hey. Oliver101

Play quietly or accoustic and let the punters complain to the management.
