Hi to all my fellow MidiMartians, A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all. Yesterday evening Susanne and I went to the Bonn Weinachtsfest Markt (Christmas Market). It was very busy as there is just one more day to go! There were many sampling the Gluhwein (mulled wine) (Excellent Stuff but not too much ... hic!), the butter fried mushrooms with a herb or garlic sauce (wonderful), the Thuringer Bratwurst (Thuringian sausages) in freshly baked bread rolls, baked potatoes and so on. Hundreds of stalls selling all sorts of Christmas goodies. One from Wales selling genuine hand made sheepskin hats and gloves etc. and so forth. I'm happy to report that the Christmas spirit is alive and well, at least it is here in Bonn, judging by all the happy, smiling faces. Or maybe that's the after effect of the Gluhwein! And here's an aerial picture of part of the central market near the statue of Beethoven and the Dom. It actually is spread through all the city and is well worth a visit. This shows it just after set up and unpopulated. Last night it was seething but all very good natured with many apologies as you couldn't help bumping into others. Great fun! Now I have the Christmas spirit! Hic! Hope it's a good one for you all. Warmest greetings, JohnG.

That's it, I'm moving the Germany! ;D JohnG it sound a great place to be at Christmas, reminiscant of days gone by when life was good and full of joy. I just made a rhyme

It is, in many ways still like that. People still shop using cash. Not a credit card culture. Where I live in the country my neighbours have just been visiting dropping in little packages of home made biscuits and spiced cake. Even my English course participants brought in a bottle of mulled wine and a little heater, packets of biscuits or home made Stollen (Christmas Cake). I always try to make the last lesson something special. To be honest I can't remember ever being happier than I am here, now, with my Susanne. (Rose tinted spectacles!) JohnG.

Merry Christmas to all here at Midi-Mart!!! I wish you all the happiness and joy this holiday season can bring. You guys have been so supportive of me...giving me that "lift" in my life when I needed it, and I won't forget it. I get a little sentimental at Christmas time and I don't want to get mushy...but I truly wish the best for you all. Merry Christmas!

Hey Charlie,
A little mushy is okay, especially at Christmas and with friends.
