Just thought I would share this with you guys. One night a guy came up to me and asked if I could do "Seven Bridges Road" by The Eagles. I smiled and said "sure". As he walks away from the stage, I heard him say to his buddy..."This I gott hear"...implying ofcourse that one person could not sound like all the Eagles members singing in harmony. Well, during the break I located the song in my laptop, ran over the changes on my guitar, and it was the first song I started the next set with. I turned my guitar amp down, clicked on the Didgitech Vocalist, and sang the tune from start to finish...with full harmony and no guitar sound. All the Digitech needs is to read the signal from the guitar. You can turn your amp off and as long as you sing relatively in key, the harmonies will be perfect. Needless to say, the guy and his buddy were surprised. They came up afterwards and asked if it was a recording, and I said "no, it was all done live." Well, they didn't believe me so as they were leaving I said goodbye in 3 part harmony, and sang 'em out the door...LOL

Hi Charlie,
I have a Vocalist II as well. Could you tell me what you have all your levels set on and what buttons are switched on please.

Hi Steveb,
Levels and buttons...hmmm...well, this may get involved a little. First, the mic level setting is pretty crucial...too much and you can overdrive the signal.....What I do is to try and keep the mic channel on the mixer relatively where it always is, and then bring up the mic level from the Vocalist starting at zero and work the volume up just a little... Set the Harmony Mix to roughly 10:00 O'clock (or for as much harmony as you want mixed with your lead vocal). I try and use the Vocalist as an enhancement and not "Bohemain Rhapsodish", if you know what I mean. That way, the lead vocal is always out front and harmonies are there , but a little more in the background as they should be. I usually select high and low presets (buttons) if I need a thick harmony. The unsion 1 & 2 are functional, but they do not produce a "doubler" effect. As far as the Effects section, I dont really use it. I use my mixer EQ for my vocal mic and the onboard effects for reverb, delay, etc. The compressor function is quite good, but if you gig live, and are not used to hearing your voice compressed, it might be a little distracting. Maybe I don't really know how to set the compressor yet..LOL. Anyway, I suggest you go on-line and read some reviews and articles on the Vocalist. It's true, I don't use the Vocalist to its full potential, but what I do use it for makes all the difference I need.
