I was just reading the Tommy Emmanuel thread and it reminded me of another unsung guitar hero. I saw Brent Mason in September when he did a mini tour in Ireland - I've been a fan for a while but to see him live (on a wet Tuesday night in Cookstown) was amazing . I've been to see many guitarists (including Clapton, Van Halen, Vai, Albert Lee, Knopfler) but for sheer versatility and technique Brent is outstanding. Sadly the hall was only half full as the non guitar playing public hasn't heard of him even though he is allegedly the most recorded (session) guitarist in the world. If you haven't heard of him check out Hot Wired on youtube or his myspace page - and if you ever get the chance to see him beg borrow or steal a ticket.
