I wonder who coined that term - "sick as adog" ?? My dogs are doing fine and they have been doing fine the last many years. Its I who am SICK and its sickening !!! Hey dont blame me if I dont know what I'm writing. My throat P A I N S , I got a dull nagging headache, myChest is aching, my eyes are burning, my feet dont move !! I dont know what came on and why I am so miserable. Could it be the glass of Beer I had on Saturday morning ? I dont drink usually but I thought a glass was fine........ till the headache hit me !! Uh oh, I know you Irishmen wont agree !! Could it be the Cracker smoke at the Diwali " Celebrations" that Saturday evening? High possibility actually It was "bbreath taking" and looks like it took my breath away literaly Could it be the Ice cream that I ate with lichis that Saturday night ? Well, it cant...... it was too delicious to hurt !! Could it be because of the three Jim Reeves songs that I sang that night, especially " Am I losing You " ?? All i know is that its four days now and I feel as miserable as I did when it started. I have Antibiotics and a host of tablets for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner. Oh How I wish I were a dog Woof Woof Woof

Shyam, my friend, So sorry to hear you're not well. It sounds suspiciously much like the virus that Susanne and I had recently. I found a throat spray made by Vicks (or here in Germany "Wicks") called Ultra Chloraseptic. It fights the bacteria which cause the sore throat but also contains benzocaine to numb the pain. Check that you aren't allergic. It helped a lot. Also gargling with warm very slightly salty water helps to fight the infection. two or three times a day. A quarter of a TEAspoon in a whole tumbler of warm water. N.B. a TINY amount of salt.
If you're running a temperature Paracetamol is better than aspirin, less chance of affecting the stomach. but again you must know that you are okay with that too. It will help but not cure the headache. I had to live with that for some time. I didn't get the sick feeling but Susanne did. I just had a raging sore throat for more than a week.
If it's the virus then no antibiotics will fight that but they may help with the sore throat. As a boy in East Africa at boarding school we had to know how to look after ourselves. But when I caught malaria that was it. A temperature of 106 F, delirium, the lot. I had whooping cough at the same time so couldn't keep any of the drugs they gave me down. Until they put them inside a piece of fresh pineapple. That did the trick and I started to recover ... I was told.
I've never been the same since ... see my avatar. Get well soon. JohnG.

Seems like this virus is doing its rounds as the wife Carol and I have both been laid low over the past month. It also started with a sore throat then a tender feeling on the side of the face, that slowly moved up to the ear causing a painful beating intermittently , before moving on to the top of the head, then POW,two days flat out in bed.Eventually it was Iboprofen[pharmacy strength] that shifted it for me but the tenderness in my head still hung around for a few weeks. It's only this week that I can safely say that I'm A1 again or at least as near to A1 that a guy my age can get LoL. Shyam ,why don't you try the Scottish remedy of a hot toady [whisky ,hot water and some sugar or honey ] Hope you get better soon my musical Indian phiilosopher, Regards Bigmike
