Great site Jerry they also have a brilliant section on beat groups, i have been a member of this site for a while now and the information that you can gather from it is amazing indeed. Alas i never went down the showband road i was more into R&B, we looked on the `showbanders` as being a little snobby of course this wasnt true but when your 15/16 the world looked totally different lol lol I hope that anyone interested in showbands will explore this great site

Hi George, Check out one of the Dave Glover pics on the site. A very young Joe Trainor on drums and also there on vocals, do you remember Billy Fonda, who later had an Elvis show on the road?

I remember the showbands from way back. They came to Aberdeen every now and then,it was the first time i heard The Hucklebuck. I think it was only Ireland that had "showbands",maybe i'm wrong but i think everywhere else had "beat groups". Great site Jerry, thanks for sharing.I didn't realise there were so many showbands.

I remeber Billy Fonda with much joy as i`m sure you do Jamesy, i always thought his was the best Elvis Show of them all, i remember we were doing the fern Lodge [memories lol] and he walked in just like 1 of the rest of us but when he went in to change he became Elvis he was really great. As you know he died terribly and his funeral was very poorly attended i couldn`t make it i was in Scotland with a band and missed it. He was a great guy. BTW you didn`t get my other message Stewart Baxter was asking about you lol lol

Oh yes I did George!! Stuarty's a great lad, if a bit eccentric, he lives his dream. He's getting married in Nashville around August time, if you fancy we could offer our talents maybe get a gig!
Cheers.
