Hello everybody,
Boy, just when you think life is gonna stay the same for a while, then it changes. Let me explain. I was outside on a Sunday doing yard work when I heard the phone ringing. I ran inside and and caught a guy trying to leave me a message. I picked up the phone and began talking with him. Turns out he had seen me in my duo and was interested in hiring me as a guitarist in a nine piece horn band. He said their guitarist was leaving the US to pursue a job in the transportation industry and would not be returning to the band. Well, after all that I had gone through with the girl singer in my duo, I thought this would be a refreshing change for me so I accepted the offer. My first date with the new band is December 6, 2008 for a Christmas party. The band leader sent me a song list and I knew practically every song, so it should be a smooth transition. Getting to concentrate on my guitar playing and singing and not having to worry about running midi files is going to be nice for a change. Don't get me wrong, I still will continue to run midis but only as a solo act when I'm not gigging with the new band. I'm excited about this new venture and for the first time in a long time, I look forward to playing music. Those hassles I was having with the girl singer were really taking its toll on me emotionally....not to the point that the audience would ever know, but in my personal satisfaction in playing music. I love music and always will. It brings me joy, and now with this new situation...something I had not considered....a renewed desire to play. Any of you out there made similar moves? Let me hear your stories....As always, I want to thank each of you out there for participating in this forum. It's really been great to hear from you. Whether you agree with me or agree to disagree, I know I can always count on an honest opinion. For those of you interested, the link to the band website is: www.nightfireband.biz
