Hi thingy, You don't say whether the tracks are one after the other (a medley) or different percussion instruments all going into one song? And can you remind us which software you are using? JohnG.

Crikey I'm going senile, It says what software you are using in the heading. I'll take a look at my copy. There's got to be a merge function somewhere hasn't there? Try to get back fairly soon. Not working too well with the virus I'm trying to fight off. JohnG.

Yea, the lot, Vit C, paracetamol, throat spray, honey, all that stuff. Obviously not all at the same time. Did I mention whisky? ;D That helps numb the brain. WHO SAID "WHAT BRAIN?" Okay, that's it, I'm outa here! JohnG.

Haha! Knew it was easy peasy. Select the tracks you want to combine by using Ctrl and left click. Over there on the extreme left, on the track number. They should all be highlighted i.e. black. Now move the mouse pointer over to the right to the MIDI data in the tracks themselves. Right click in there and you'll get a pop up menu. Find and left click the command "combine" and lo-and-behold the tracks all get merged and swept up into the track I just clicked on. At least that how it happened on mine. But is combine in the help system? Only for audio tracks it seems. Oh well Hope it works for you. Am I a genius? Yes, I bl**dy well am! hee, hee! JohnG. Arrogant b@st@rd! Doh!!!!! Great thank's for that.Cheers.

John
I was trying to do this with a Midi. I have 2 versions of Cakewalk...and old one ..Music Creator Pro 24, and a new one Sonar 7....but when I highlight the tracks, move over and right click, "Combine" is not one of my options.
Got any ideas here.

Hi Jerry,
Maybe if Music Creator was quite old Cakewalk hadn't got round to having the facility, (it isn't e.g. in CWP3.01), or if Music Creator is a "lite" version, but it beats me why it's not in Sonar 7. Of course arguably these packages are now made primarily for audio production but I can't for the life of me see why they'd remove the function. Maybe it's just implemented in another way.
Sorry I don't use Sonar as I have CWPA9 which does all I need. Sorry I'm not much help here. JohnG. Of course if you need files modified in this way then I can do some for you.

In piano roll. Find out what controller is being used eg 7....11 Drop the controller screen down. Erase the graph on each channel. Make an ending .

Hi Ziggy,
Fade outs are usually done in one of three different ways, using the "channel volume" controller (CC#7), using the "expression" controller (CC#11) or by reducing the note velocities in the "note on" messages. In Cakewalk 9 changing these is relatively straightforward using the bottom window in "piano roll" view. If you would like to post the file to my PM address I'll post a lesson for you as I did for thingyy. Best regards, JohnG.
