Hi all, Just thought I'd let you know that I received a new mic today for home recording. It's the Studio Projects B1. Very low cost at just 111 Euro. It's a large diaphragm, condenser mic., so obviously needs phantom power. It has a low cut filter at 75 or 150 Hz and an attenuator at -10 or -20 dB. It comes with an isolation mount which seems pretty effective and (for this application) a next to useless foam condom. I used it with a K&M pop filter. The noise floor seems very low to me and it's speced at maximum level of either 132 or 137 dB depending whose blurb you read. What's it like? Well I have to say that for the price it's absolutely knockout IMHO. It gives a few mics I've heard at ten times the price a run for their money. My partner when she heard the results was "c0ck a'whoop" with the recording I made of her without any EQ or FX at all. She was just warming up and "doodling" a bit but it sounded so natural. This is one I'll be keeping. ;D I'll try using it as an overhead on piano in the near future and see how it fares. You can take a look here: www.thomann.de/gb/studio_projects_b1.htm?sid=0d29d2a1e93e6fd61d3837ce51231f55 which is where I bought it. Here it is set up in the lounge: Thought some of you might like to know. JohnG.

Well, I do know that different mics. suit different people. This one sounds very clean and natural to my ear, of course I can't guarantee it will to you, but I based my try out after reading quite a few recommendations from other home studio forums like GearSl?tz. JohnG.
