What works exceedingly well for junkmail:
When you get junkmail with a 'postage paid' return envelope, take all the other junkmail, stuff it into the envelope, as much as you can fit in, and mail the envelope!

I do even worse. I rip most of it up and crunch it up so the envelope is big and fat and must be handled by hand at the post office. ( that makes it cost the junk mail sender even MORE postage) I do keep the portion with my name and address intact and I write in BIG RED LETTERS, "Do NOT send me any more of your garbage!!" I carefully put that in so when they open the envelope and remove the contents, there is no way they can miss it.

I receive lots of letters from people who are running for public office. I am usually asked to send in at least $25.00 for their campaign. The other day, while I was at the grocery store, I found some packages of pretend play money and I laughed and thought to myself, 'There may be some good use for this play money after all. If I send a pack of this to each politician who asks for a contribution, then they will be receiving the same equal share of the representation that I will get from them if elected."
