Hi all, so far I've gotten a lot more than I've bargained for with every question I've posted and it's really great. My next dilemma: Is there any way of finding the exact spot where the vocal starts on a midi that does not have a melody track? There are a lot of really great midis out there with no melody track and if you get distracted, even for a millisecond, you can kill the vocal timimg completely. HELP!!!!!!

The best way is to edit that file, usually the drums and add a little fill, to give you a cue when to come in. Without that, you'd better count bars and you better not forget how many each tune's intro is or, you have a big OOPS!
I much prefer a file that the melody line is intact so if I forget anything about the tune, after not doing it for an extended period, I can always go back and re-learn what I've forgotten. I never delete melody lines, I just turn the volume on that channel down to 1. You might want to look at some files you have and see if the melody does happen to be there with the volume down, or expression set to 0 or all the note velocities set to 1.

A wack on the F#1 in the drum track is a good cue, I used to have the bar numbers on my cue cards.

HI. I have the cakewalk program on my computer. I also have a sequencer called MC50 made by Roland.
Can you advise me on a little problem I have?
I would like to download some files from midimart onto my computer's cakewalk, then on a floppy disc, so that I can use the completed songs onto my MC50 Roland sequencer.
Can you help me with this, and especially formatting. Thank you. Roger.

As you say, woohoo! Isn't it great when you finally make the breakthrough? But you don't have to have a problem to post here. Keep us updated with how you get on. JohnG.
