Hi Guy's & girls, I'm relatively new to doing solo gigs. I play rhythm guitar with back trax using a faily powerful amplified mixer and set of decent speakers. I'm faced with 2 problems: 1) When I'm playing normal chords the higher notes tend to sound a little overpowering and quite frankly irritating to the ear. It's not so bad using barre chords. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Secondly is there a rule of thumb to set the volume levels of the back tracks/guitar and vocals?

Could be to do with the frequencies of the open strings.Downtune a semi-tone and use a capo.
