Hello fellow guitarists,
Just a short question here that's been on my mind. Where do you place your amp(s)? I have been stacking mine behind me for years, mainly so that I wouldn't play too loud...but now I'm beginning to wonder if that's what I really should be doing. First of all, my amp bleeds into my vocal mic at times and it's not a pleasant sound screaming into the PA. Secondly, when my amp is up at ear level...it kind of intimidates me into playing the way I want to...especially if I think the audience might think my guitar might be too loud. As I said before, I felt like if my amp was up closer to ear level, then I could better control the volume and mix it better with the sequences being played through the PA. There are times, though, that I hear it too well and it stifles my playing...I know...sounds wierd because most folks think guitar players are just loud and proud...but if you're trying to play a lead with feeling...sometimes you need that extra umph, but not too much as to offend the audeince. What do you guys think?

I place my Amp on the floor. I know what you mean by being intimidated if your Amp is to much in your ear, makes it hard to get into it. Perhaps you could put it slightly to the side of you and tilt it up. Really the only way to find out if your amp is to loud in the audience is to ask someone.

I place the amp on the floor behind me. Same for my friend. We play together.
You're right, the trick is really to get the electric guitar blending in with the midi. Can't get it too overpowering.
For elec-acc, we plug straight to the mixer>PA speakers.

mine goes on an amp stand just behind me - I mic it up though, so it doesn't have to be too loud.

I use a vamp2 virtual amp straight to the mixer, gives me full control over the mix levels when playing with midis, acoustic goes straight to the mixer
