Hi...another problem.....I want to clone a track within a midi file....and change the instrument as well from the original and able to play/hear both the original track and the new cloned track at the same time....I can clone the track ok but when I change the instrument it changes the original as well....is it possible to produce a second version of a track with a different instrument?/.......thanks in advance of any help.....

You have to change the CHANNEL assignment of the new track. First change the channel to one that is not being used, then change parameters you want to change, such as volume, pan, etc.
Tracks and Channels are not the same thing.
You can have 1000 tracks in MIDI but only 16 channels. Naturally tons of those tracks would be sharing channels which means they would be playing all the same instrument on those shared channels.
Do remember to save each change you make as a new file with a new name, especially when you are learning.
