Hi Valves, Ill try with this one for you but I'm not a Sonar owner. The principle is the same for all keyboards and sequencers though. With your keyboard you should have got a CD with USB drivers on it. If not, you need to visit the manufacturers web site and download them. Then install them. Hopefully you'll have the manual which will tell you how to do this for your kbd. If not, again visit manufacturers site and download the pdf file of the manual and open it in Adobe Reader. Once the drivers are installed (you may need to reboot the system to get them recognised) you need to tell Sonar to use this USB driver as the MIDI input device. Now as I don't have Sonar I can't give the exact detail of this, but if it's anything like Cakewalk Pro then you'll have a "settings" item on the top menu. In this menu you'll have typically a "MIDI devices" item, and opening this will allow you to choose from a list of possible devices for in and out. The USB driver you have just installed should be there and selecting this will give you the keyboard as input. You'll also need to select your output device which will be Windows GS or sound card or an external sound module. Phew! Of course if you can play a MIDI file, and hear, it then you've already got the output device selected correctly. Once you've done all this then you should hear a note when you press a key on the keyboard. If not, then come back, tell us what worked, and we'll have another go. As an afterthought, the driver may disappear when you unplug the keyboard (some do this), so you may have to reselect it every time you open Sonar. You get used to it after a while! Good luck, JohnG.
