Today a dark cloud hangs over our industry once again with the death of the legendary rocker Bo Diddley
Bo died of a heart attack in Florida. His hard hitting guitar rifts helped to shape generations of guitarist`s in the 60`s and beyond. Bo had reached the good old age of 79
Rest in peace Bo Diddley

I meant to repeat his famous quote about his influence on rock and roll he said `I opened the door for a lot of people and they all ran thru and left me holding the door`

I was just thinking the other day how old that all the original rockers like Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Bo Diddley were getting..... Very sad news indeed.

hmmm... it's true that bodies tend to wear out over time but, in the words of the great philosopher, Arnie; "Ah'll be back!" Cheers, Dave.

If reincarnation is something we believe in, or perhaps the idea of a Heaven holds the promise of more to come, then a form of life may well continue. I was referring to our live, our experiences, if you will, this time round

On a serious note though the thought was raised about the age of all the old rockers and it started a thought in my head and here`s the question Who will follow after the legends finally play their last gig in the sky who will be the new Jerry Lee or Chuck Berry at the risk of starting a war of words i don`t see anyone at present that will rise to the dizzy heights of these 2 let alone McCartney Anyone else share my views? ? weegeo-----------being serious and reflective

The reason for this is I believe we were spoiled for choice back in the days Of Elvis, Chuck, Fats, Buddy, etc..etc... Today there are some legendary rockers still around but ultimately it will be a matter of taste: Oasis and U2, and the likes, although brilliant musicians, are not my cup of tea singing wise.

If their music is good enough...it won't die with them. How you can say you can't see anyone taking over from them beats me. Of course, this is just my opinion..and it is an interesting topic.

I take your point George, but my point is, for example you mention Mark Knopfler was influenced by Chet Atkins, this is true.....but in turn, Chet Atkins was influenced by Jimmie Rodgers and Merle Travis and the late great Bo Diddley was heavily influenced by John Lee Hooker........so its swings and roundabouts really........i think music has to evolve like everything else.
