Working on a PC

i would say all members on here use a PC to download listen and edit midifiles so being nosey what else do midimart members use the pc for apart from the internet . Me i use it to do posters business cards edit and print photos makes cds and encode films from avi to dvd make ringtones and the boring one do my letters on it and on my laptop i just use that for editing mdis recording them to minidisc and use it as a recording studio. years ago i used to dabble in making webpages but theres lots of progs out there now that will nearly do it for you. also use it to restore old photos so what else do you use your pc for

Hiya levi this is a good topic i`ll be first 2 kick it off 4 u. I use my pc`s for all the usual things like yourself quite boring really i suppose lol the only other thing i`m doing is writing a book using a programme my son made for me it`s a dictation type thing [as u can see i`m pc illiterate] i`m nearly 2/3rds of the way thru now Hope this starts the topic of for you

I think the question should be ........ what dont I use my PC for ? Really, I cant imagine life without one. The list will be endless, but well, these are just a few I can think of
Music........ to listen to download, to edit, to record, to whatever I please with it etc etc etc
Word Documents .......... to write letters, to print my Bills (lol) to note down Lyrics etc etc
Excel .................. for all those documentations, Telephone Directory etc etc
Publisher ..............for designing my own Greeting Cards, Visiting cards etc
Power Point ........... for those rare presentations (not too godd at that, actually)
Adobe Photo Shop ........ for everything in photography, editing etc etc
Nero .................. for wav editing, burning CDs etc
Printing ............. all the outputs from above operations.
AND OFCOURSE ........ THE INTERNET !!!!!!!!!!!
The Internet ? For everything under the Sun, literally.
There are many more uses for my PC but its all I can think of now.
I'm interested in that "dictation type thing", George so do let me know more about that if possible, or ask George Junior to fill me in . I use a single finger to type so it'll be a boon to get a "secretary" !!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this thread might help members who are stuck or not sure how to do something on the PC and there might be someone on here who is jenned up on it and can help like shyam who is interseted in the dictation

yes use the pc much like you all do,its now become something we cant funtion without,I suppose it be come somthing that most muso's cant live with out.

I,m just a music nut !!! so you will all know what i do!! got about 30,000 music sheets in .pdf format,35,000 midi files in alsorts of formats !! about 5Gb .3,000 approx oldie records in mp3 .So i know how they are supposed to sound.( a reference point ) Also so i can make backing tracks from them !!I have also got quite a few mp3 backing tracks !! bought some,made some,had a lot sent to me as well !! .Do my digital piccies from my camera on it,and last but not least talk to my good buddy Tiny,on it quite regularly. I think i would have withdrawal symptons if it broke!! .Yes i do have them all backed up on a separate caddy as well!! Steve

Just reading through this thread brought back memories of when I moved house about 3 years ago and my pc was not compatible with the single electricity circuit there so I couldn't do anything computer related. I would tell people my 'husband' had broken down. He was there for my music, lyrics, playing games to relax, internet etc etc.. A very important part of my life and then he was gone. Took a couple of months til I was able to 'roll his little ball around, tickle his switch, and turn him on' but he didn't seem to last long before he cracked up again. Luckily someone helped me out with a laptop and 'he' has been my life saver and my 'band'.
