I just joined your Forum and I want to say hi to you all MIDI nuts like myself. I'm new at this posting thing so any suggestions are much appreciated. I know I have a lot to learn on what to do and what not to do, so please bear with me... A quick introduction: My name is Felipe De Aguiar, I'm a guitar player, singer and I can also play some keyboards. I live here in Las Vegas, NV, United States and have a dance band called THE FLASHH - www.FlashhBand.com if you want to check it out. We play mainly private parties, weddings and corporate venues here in town. I use an old Voyetra Gold (DOS) sequencing program for playing live with my MIDI files but I'm thinking of switching over to Cakewalk 3.0 because of its Playlist feature. I started sequencing back in 1986 and have sequenced over 100 songs of different genres including my own originals, until the advent of commercial SMF, which saved me a lot of time as far as cover tunes were concerned. I used a Roland MC-500 MkII (still do!) and my own set of sound modules to create my MIDI files, but I will have to convert them little by little to my Roland SC-88 as SMF, before I can make them available on the Forum. I was looking on Google for a MIDI exchange site and came upon MidiMart.net by chance. I'm glad I did! If any of you decide to come to Vegas for a visit, be sure to look me up! Looking forward to hearing from you all. Felipe aka Flashhman

Welcome to the forum Felipe!
You use Sequencer Gold? Wow, now that is indeed an oldie! I use Voyetra Record Producer Deluxe, and before that, used Voyetra Digital Orchestrator Pro. Before that I was using a Windows 3.1 version of Power Tracks pro. On occasion I dabble in Cubase SX3, but only if I intend on working with audio as well.
What format are your old files in? Do you mean they just aren't patched for GM/GM2?
I'm curious, as I'm sure many other members are' as to how you set up a click track for your live drummer, or do you also have a sequenced drum track that he plays over? Seems everyone has a different method of going about that. <smile>
I'm also curious as to what sound modules you used before.
I now use the Ketron SD2. It is inexpensive and exceptionally tiny. For the most part, has superior sounds to a lot of other products, especially considering the price.
You may want to consider unhiding your e-mail addy in your profile. Through private e-mail addresses is how many files are passed between members.
Would love to head to Vegas. I know quite a few folks who have moved out there that I'd like to spend a little time with. I'm approx a 6 hour drive from there. I'm in San Diego.

Hi Felipe, and welcome to the forum. Like JazzCat (and I do) I'd like to know what sound modules you're using. I have a collection of a few, Roland SC-8850, Yamahas MU128 and 1000 with plug in cards like a DX7 emulator, Prophet 5 emulator, VL modelling synth and a piano sample module. But I'm in the process of building a new Music Workstation which will use VST instruments (VSTi). My first efforts were on an Atari ST maybe almost as long ago as you, to be honest I forget when. Hope you have fun here, as you'll see anything goes (well almost!). Best regards, JohnG.
