I have just voted in the first phase of elections to choose the next Government in the State (Province) that I reside in and like many others, I hope we dont land up with a Coalition Government again, when blackmail and corruption over rules logic and progress. Many friends of mine have abstained from voting and their reason is that all politicians are the same - crooks and deceivers. As much as most of us will agree, dont you think it is the duty of every citizen to cast their vote ? If they dont , then what moral right do they have to complain about any mis governance ? Are the citizens of your countries responsible citizens and do they exercise their franchise ? It'll be interesting to read your opinions and comments on this subject.

It is indeed the duty of all citizens to cast their vote to maintain democracy......of course all politicians are in it for themselves but its better than living under tyrant rule!! I think these two quotes say it all:- In democracy it's your vote that counts; In feudalism it's your count that votes. Mogens Jallberg And........ The word 'politics' is derived from the word 'poly', meaning 'many', and the word 'ticks', meaning 'blood sucking parasites'. Larry Hardiman Amen.

Elections...well...we in the US are headed for one of the most important elections ever for the next president of the US. This upcoming election in November of this year will be the most watched and analyzed ever. There are so many issues that are of concern to the American public, and Barrack Obahma and John McCain (the Democratic and Republican nominees for presidency) are at opposite ends from one another in most of these issues. I plan to vote because it's like Shyam says, if you don't vote...then don't complain. In a way, I'll be glad when the election is over and we can go about the business of everyday living and try and deal with all the changes we are facing. Democracy is a way of life that we cherish deeply and the freedoms we enjoy in the US should never be taken for granted. I will do my part by casting a vote(s) in all elections whether locally or nationally.
