How yis,
I'm new to the forum so bear with me. I have a GM2 HD sequencer that I use to play midi backing tracks with, guitar and vocal accompaniment. Looking to get hold of American Pie and downloaded it from Midi Mart. I can play the file no problem using standard midi software on PC's however I'm getting an Error 02 on the GM2 Sequencer. Sequences takes in files from the floppy drive and other files on the floppy are ok. I've downloaded Jazz software and ran the file through it with no probs. Saved it from here but still getting error2. I've no problem with other MM midis, just this one so far.
Any advice. The file doesn't appear corrupt. and I believe the sequencer can take type1 or type2 midis.
Thanks in advance Tradman

Seeing as I don't have the manual to discover what 'Error 2' means, I can't suggest a remedy.

Was there enough room on the disc for the complete file ?Or enough space on the internal memory of the sequencer to convert the file ?

And, just so you know Tradman; GM2 is a soundset ( a group of instrument voices ) not a midifile type. GM2 is an expansion of GM ie: more instruments. The midifile types are 0 (evrything on one track) and 1 (everything on seperate tracks). Try re-setting the player and loading just the Pie midi (in case it's a lack of internal memory problem as Thingyy suggests). If no joy, upload it here and we'll fix it for you. Cheers, Dave.

Hi Dave, I assumed he was talking about a hardware sequencer, seeing as he said he is using the "floppy drive on the GM2 HD sequencer", which is why I replied in the manner I did. He also said it plays fine on the computer, through sequencing software.
So, I would need to know make and model number of the hardware sequencer, then track down a manual for it ( if I'm lucky) to find out what 'Error 02' means.

Understood, Cat. From the description and the fact that it uses a floppy drive I pictured older technology, something like an Alesis or a Kawai with 1 or 2 mb of internal memory. My "upload it here" comment just refers to the American Pie sequence he's having trouble with. I guess we'll just have to wait to find out what Error 02 is... I'm betting on the file being too large for an already overloaded internal memory. Cheers, Dave.

Sorry if I confused you lads, I have a GEM WK2 HD sequencer with floppy drive. Error 02 means the file is corrupt. Yet I can play it on any other midi player software on PC. As I got the midi file "American Pie" from Midi Mart I thought I'd post the error to you to see if any of you came accross it before.
I've ran it through the JazzWare as suggested in the Q&A section, and although it played ok through this, it still came up as error 02 on my sequencer.
I've downloaded MidiNotate Composer now and have used the export facility on this to convert to midi again and I'm going to load this up to the sequencer to see if it resolves it. I'll let you know how I get on.
Sorry to be a pain but I really like this cut down version of American Pie from MM and am anxious to get it working.
Thanks for your Patiance Tradman

JazzCat, sorry about the Lads thing in my previous post, I meant to say Lads & Lassies as we say here in the Emerald Isle.

Sorted.
I downloaded MidiNotate trial version. Loaded the midi through it and exported it again as midi and it worked a treat.
Thanks to all who contributed.
