Hey Guys and Girls
what would you reccomend on the portable PA Systems. I saw a Peavey Messenger at the weekend but didn't buy it as I would like your thoughts on them bearing in mind I just want it for small venues.I will be plugging in a keyboard, guitar and mike.
Regards
Mark ;D

:)Hi again Mark, sounds like Canada is agreeing with you.I have been using a 300watt yamaha stagepass 300 for about 3 years now which i paid $AU900 brand new in Perth W A,you can still get them for around that price now although they have brought another model out the 500watt stagepass 500 which you could get for around $AU1500. I put my Ovation acc guitar, midifiles which i have turned into mp3s (used to use roland 880 drum machine),sm58 mic & can use an extra mic if required. The speakers that come with it are very portable which is what i am looking for with the type of venues i play at plus the quality is very good as well. The 300 model is 6 channel & i think the 600 model may have 8 channels.Recently since i have begun using midifiles i have started taking just one larger speaker, a session which has a 12" plus horn & i find the sound i get brings out the bass thus giving me a fuller sound all round.I position the one speaker just behind me slightly to my right as to avoid any feedback problems & i can hear the count-in clearly, this seems to work fine for me & the good thing is i take it into the various gigs all on a two wheeled sack trolley all set up ready to plug in(takes about 10 mins including tuning the guitar).I started from doing a couple of odd test freebies 3 years ago & did around 150 gigs last year, trouble is we have moved a little closer to the ocean so iv'e got myself a little boat, so the fishing may clash with the music but i reckon i could always put the gardening on hold. anyway Mark i have found the stagepass to be a very reliable unit so i hope this helps you with your choice, best wishes ,simmo ;D ;D

Mark, You're in Canada now... there's only one choice; Canada's finest... Yorkville! They make some of the best PA gear in the world and give a lifetime warranty and great support. The guys at Yorkville really care about quality of sound and they would have to be one of the most reliable brands on the market. I have a set of small Yorkies (Micron600s) that have kicked butt for 20 years and still sound great. Their small PA units are just amazing, check 'em out at www.yorkville.com I heartily recommend them. Cheers, Dave.

Hi I have to agree with Gibbo re Yorkville - my main stay of my PA for many years has been a Yorkville powered mixer and two Yorkville speakers ( 18 inch with horns) - they have a beautiful crystal clear sound taht seems to cut through without having to have the PA too loud and it is only 250w - before that I was always having PA issues - I have had these for years now and still going strong Roy Waiuku NZ
