Hi Everyone All of us, young and old have some health complaints or the other. The Seniour citzens amongst us have a bigger share of health problems than the younger folk. There are many situations where we can help each other out with knowledge out of experience, with links to the availabilty of medical help, ., advice each other on good and bad drugs, therapy, finances etc etc etc etc etc etc. There might even be occassions when we can say a word to cheer someone up. I can think of millions of ways we can help each other and make life a little more cheerful for those of us "inder the weather" I wish to suggest that we in this Forum open a place where we could talk about our health conditions and feel the family warmth in our times of need Dear Glenn and Pat, do think of this.

Health is a serious issue, that's for sure and we have no problem with members discussing health-related concerns, but I am not sure we need a special area dedicated to it. If members find it is something they touch upon more and more frequently then perhaps we could do something but for the moments there's no need.
Please feel free to use the regular chat area for such discussions and we will see how things go.

Hi Shyam, For some people as the years progress we may find we get something called Raynaud's Syndrome. It usually starts with pain in the fingers and toes and they can get very cold and turn white or even blue. It's usually agreed that it's a circulation problem. After a bit of research I found that many people take a dose of "Ginkgo biloba" and I found a place locally that sells a preparation. Not expensive. A little of this morning and evening and for me the problem has become much reduced. And, of course, keep fingers and toes warm at all times. Of course it's an ancient Chinese remedy. However if you're already taking another remedy like aspirin or warfarin prescribed by your doctor then don't mix drugs without medical advice. There is evidence that certain of these things don't mix. It's one OR the other. But it is available "over the counter" actually "off the shelf" here. Of course I'm not prescribing it for anyone and you must make sure that it is suitable for you. I am not liable if you decide to use it. If you want to read more go here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gingko_biloba and scroll down to the section on "Medicinal uses". To admin: if you'd rather I didn't post remedies such as this here then I'm quite prepared to remove it. Hoping this might help someone, JohnG. Added later, you can also look up Raynaud's disease here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raynaud%27s_disease

YEAH!! These are real helpful links and sure to help a lot of people. JohnG, I read all the details and though I wish I could start on the "Ginkgo biloba" I think I shouldnt as I'm on Ecosprin 375 after the Angioplasty. Truly, the Chinese have so many natural cures for a lot of ailments and I wish they would introduce them to the World instead of mass producing all the consumables we are being flooded with. thingyy, your link sure made a lot of sense and as an Indian, we can stomach those chillies with ease. It really makes a lot of good sense and the next time I bite into a chilli, I'm going to think about the positives instead of grumbling about the belching fire

Their sure is no harm trying alternative therapy but always check with your doctor first.
This is a very good natural treament for the old Johnny Giles (Heamorrhoids), simply grab a handful of freshly cut grass or hay, put in a bucket and add some boiling water, then gently lower ones posterior to the bucket and let the steam do the work for a couple of minutes, i kid you not, it works a treat, and be careful not to fill the water too near the top!!
Thank God i never had them but i know a lot of people this has worked for!!

Hi Tubbs and Shyam,
I liked the cautionary note to your post tubbs ... ouch!
Yea Shyam, the pills I got have a little Ginseng in them too and I must admit that they make me feel a whole lot more "with it" (careful how you interpret that) than I did before. Generally much happier. Bu tas has been said (as I did too) make sure with your doc that they're okay for you. If you're not on any medication then they "should be" okay. But always check. The chilli pepper is good stuff too I've heard. I do tend to add a little to food too. Yum, yum.

JohnG, this Ginseng , I recollect now, is in the very popular "REVITAL" and I took those for a month and felt pretty good. I dont why I discontinued it, but I'm going to get back after checking with my doctor. Actually there are so many remedies in alternate medicine, but no allopathic doctor will ever agree, and none of them will ever admit they are effective. Everything, according to them has to be tested again and again by the FDA. In India, we have so many Ayurvedic remedies it is truly miraculous. I was diagnosed with MS, and the MRI Scans confirmed the condition as demyelination. Top Neurologists prescribed Cortico Steroids and gave no assurance of a fool proof cure. A friend suggested Ayurvedic Head massages and after three weeks of a rather complex method of massaging, I am perfectly alight and though I couldnt talk or sing without a bad slur and though my facial muscles contorted involuntarily, I am back to my normal singing and I am absolutely confident on stage.Truly miraculous !

Hi Thingyy,
Yes, agreed, it's a good one.
They taught something similar in a course I went on oh, ages ago, called "presentation techniques". Not sure exactly about the timing but probably very similar.
When you're full of nervousness just before starting a presentation that exercise has always, for me, worked wonders. It works too just before going on stage. It calms the jitters.
