OK...OK....I'm sold...I want one. One question I had was can the Sonic Cell be used as a sound module without having to load songs via the memory stick. I already have a software sequencer capable of limited editing (key/tempo/patch changes). Currently I am using a yamaha sound module. I go straight out of the laptop into a midi interface and then on to the midi input on the yamaha. I store the midi files in the laptop, so I'm not limited to the amount of songs available at the gig. I keep hearing about this memory stick, and was wondering if that would be a draw back, especially when there's that one song a patron (punter) wants to hear and he's got a nice tip to put into the tip jar if I can play it, and it's not in the memory stick! LOL...oh well. Hope everyone had a blessed holiday season.

Hi Charlie, the sonic cell will read 99 songs from the memory stick, as you know memory sticks are relatively cheap so just load your songs onto 3 or 4 of them, thats what ive done. It also comes with its own editing software and sonar le.

Thanks Tubbs,
I have been contemplating buying the Sonic Cell. Since you've had it, does the Sonic Cell impress you? Are the sounds that much better? Is the software package intuitive even enough for beginners? And finally, does the Sonic Cell have any drawbacks that you are aware of?
Thanks,
Charlie

Hey Tubbs,
Wow! I want one too! One thing I do need to ask.....how do the drums sound? Most of my music is geared toward a dance crowd, and the drums just have to be top quality. Currently using an old Yamaha QY700 (old, I know), but the drum sound is very punchy and authentic. Let me know...I'm just waiting to make that purchase!!!! LOL

Hi Charlie, i have to say the drums on sonic cell are fantastic and give a real good clear sound, as do all the instruments on-board, i was by no way an expert on sound modules and i found it fairly easy to operate, as with any new gadget it takes a little time to get used to but you'll get there. I can honestly say i have not found a downside to it, as for using it as a backing machine at gigs, one word "Awesome". Im sure you would not be dissapointed were you to invest. Let me know how you get on. Gerry.

Hey Gerry,
Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not a sound module expert either, but I do know what sounds good. In my search for the perfect sound mdule, I have discovered that certain modules do certain sounds better than others. It appears that this module has it all. One question I did have was in regards to the Sonic Cell acting as a stand alone module only. For example, I have a software program called ShowPlay that I want to use for playing live gigs. Can I simply connect my laptop to the midi input on the Sonic Cell and play away? Or, am I forced to use the "stick" theory, and not use my software?
Thanks!
Charlie
