Back when I were a lad I remember goin' to a youth club called the Arbor youth club. We had a really good entertainment committee and I can remember we had the John Mayall band (the Blues Breakers) when Clapton played lead guitar and I think Lenny Bruce was in the line up too. I still have a vivid memory of Clapton playing some amazing blues licks whilst his eyes were riveted on two (gorgeous) girls dancing around their handbags (remember that?).
We had them back two or even three times before they did Green Onions and then we couldn't afford them. Remember the graffiti on the bridge over the M1? "Clapton is God."
We had Zoot Money a few times too. Wow, they were terrific!
And we also had the Alan Bown Set. All good bands. We had a good share of Rock'n Roll bands too. But mostly blues or R'n B oriented. The original R'n B not what they call R n B today.
Them was the days.

Hey John, Yes, those were the days! The Blues Breakers were fantastic and had some amazing players in the various line-ups that John Mayall put together. However, I'm quite certain that Lenny Bruce was either in NY telling smutty jokes (or dead by then), don't you mean Jack Bruce? Girls dancing around their handbags! Now you're showing your age!!! Cheers, Dave.

Ha ha, yea right you are! ;D Lenny Bruce indeed. Poor old aged brain. Jack was the man of course! Re: Girls dancing around their handbags - yea, u2? ATB, JohnG. We often just sat and listened to Mayall but Zoot would get everybody dancing! Remember the box of mouth organs in different keys that John always had with him? How many roadies did it take to lift his organ onto the stage? try www.johnmayall.com/
