Here is a photo of yours truely from way back in the early 1960s. Can't remember exact date but I was married in 1965 and sold my guitar to buy the engagement ring! Such was true love. Our group was called the Premiers - we weren't particlularly good but did get bookings at local youth clubs etc. Certainly wouldn't have made a living out of it!! sold my guitar too, to buy my first car, MINI. Like many from that time was influenced by Hank Marvin & some of my solo's still have that feel but now on synth's. Liked the photo, I have some stored in the loft, it was a great time. From your photo, I noticed that great big amp, wow, I rember having a caged amp, 30 watt, 2 speakers as far apart as was possible, to avoid feed back, on one occassion the curtains opened and lots of girls came running towards us, unfortunatly the curtains dragged our mic stands over in front of the speakers and screamed back at them. Good old day's now but at the time very hairy.

Ah, yes....the '60's. From what I remember, they were great! The keyboard in the picture is a little smaller than what I used....a Hammond B-3 with twin Leslies! (Even hoisted it with block & tackle 20 ft above a dance floor) Eventually I got smart & used a Farfisa, a Gibson, and even the old Arp synth. Now, when I gig, I can carry the keys, laptop & sound system in a minivan!!
The "Good Old Days?" Hmmmmmm.......

Hi Mike, I've only just spotted your old photo. Pure nostalgia! I've got a box full of similar ones. It's lovely to look through them from time to time. Re. the amp, my first was a linear thirty watt effort which, along with an Eagle battery powered four channel mixer and a home made speaker cab which contained speakers from a couple of canibalised radiograms formed our P.A. Using crystal mics the three of us had a vocal mic each on home made stands and a mic in the piano. Looking back on it it must have sounded awful but we got plenty of work and no one seemed to notice or care if the sound quality was less than hi-fi. Happy days! Have a brilliant 2008. Best regards, Roger
